CFPA provides wildland fire protection
to 1.5 million acres of private, county, state and Bureau of Land Management
lands. The district headquarters are located in Coos Bay with unit offices
in Bridge and Gold Beach. Sub-units are located in Fourmile, Reedsport, and
Brookings. Engines patrol the region daily during fire season. CFPA also
staffs five lookouts throughout its protection district.
The district is split into six regulated use zones that depict fire weather conditions and allow fire managers to enforce fire season regulations based on the level of fire danger. These zones are: CS-1 and CS-4, known as the coastal strip; CS-2 and CS-5 further inland, typically hotter and drier; and SK-1 and SK-2, private lands that lie within the Siskiyou National Forest. The Association also has mutual aid agreements with rural and city fire departments, the Siskiyou National Forest, the Douglas Forest Protective Association and surrounding Oregon Department of Forestry districts.
